Joy of the Lord #2

It's been a busy few days as I've had grades due. Report cards go out Thursday, and, boy, was I behind in grading. I have cell group on both Tuesdays and Wednesday nights, so I keep plenty busy. We had a Women's Encounter at church this weekend, and it was awesome! However, while I was there, God did not grade my papers or average my grades....unfortunately. =o)

Point number 2 of the sermon is pretty short, so I thought I'd try to squeeze it in here quick. It's one we've heard so many times, but somehow it is not that easy to implement.

Point #2 - Don't Worry or Be Anxious

Luke 12:25 says, "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life." There are a multitude of scriptures about this topic, so apparently God is serious about it. We are to be "anxious for nothing". I always try to remind myself that nothing takes God by surprise; He is aware of everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen. Everything, even the bad stuff, will work out for my good IF I give it to Him. The secret is to give it to Him and let Him keep it!! We need to take our concerns to Him in prayer....pray about them....and then leave them there and not worry or stew about it. Easier said than done, but I can sure see how that would help me keep my joy!! So, I am asking the Holy Spirit to tap me on the shoulder every time I worry about something instead of pray about it.

Have a blessed few days!!

Thanks for sharing Ruth. Yes, there is a big difference between worrying and praying. I find that as soon as something happens that would worry me, if I immediately pray then I feel a peace and never worry. I just have to do it at all times and not sometimes.

I was excited to see step #2. This actually has helped me tonight, and for that I thank you. My husband and I have a few things we are worried about, and this post reminded me to give it to God. Let him handle it. He will work it all out however he sees fit.

I hope that report cards went out smoothly and you are caught up on your grading.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Trella,

Isn't that the truth! We have to remember to do it all the time, not just sometimes. THAT is the real challenge!!

Thanks Ash! You made my day, knowing that my post helped. Isn't God faithful, giving us little reminders in unusual places just when we need them the most!!

Thanks for that timely message, Ruth. Today hubby was putting up the forms for the concrete to be poured on top of our existing carport floor. I may have mentioned that he is enclosing it to build a craft room for me. Well, he came in kind of grumpy and snapped at me a couple of times. I calmly told him that if making that craft room out of love for me is going to make him so stressed out that he can't be nice to me then forget it. I'd rather not have a craft room and a nice husband. He felt bad and apologized. We talked and we hugged. I told him about your message that God doesn't want us to worry or be anxious. Hubby has been putting a lot of pressure on himself to get this project done ASAP and he has some things going on at work that are stressing him out, etc. We agreed that we both need to try harder to trust in Him and not worry so much. We also don't want this project of him building a craft room for me to cause problems in our marriage. Thanks again for your reminder.
