Happy Birthday Matt!

Well, I'm running behind, but Matt turned 8 on Monday. We had his party the Saturday before. It was just family, the little boy from down the street and one friend from school. I can't believe my baby is 8. He is such a miracle, too. (One day I'll have to post his story.) Anyway, here are some pictures from the event:

Here's Matt's "cake". He doesn't like regular cake or cupcakes, so we always do a brownie cake or, in this case, a cookie cake. This isn't the best shot of him, but it's the only one I have.

I had to laugh when I took this picture. Do you remember when YOU had friends come over and play? What did you do? Maybe go outside, play dolls, etc. Well, today's generation is different. Here's what THEY do when they get together:

PLAY VIDEO GAMES! And not on the TV. No, they each have one of the hand-held ones. Oh, the one that Andrew is holding (the redhead on the left) is the one that got "baked" (see post before for explanation).

Of all the things he wanted, a $3.49 puzzle from Wal*Mart got this enthusiastic response.

So, Matt is now 8. I'm the mother of two teens and an 8 year old. How did this happen? I'm still 25...aren't I????

(Sorry for the weird way this post is laid out. I tried to put the pictures in a different place and this is what happened. If I had to redo the whole thing, it'd be next week before it happened!)

What a sweet little boy! How great to be 8!

Times sure have changed! I think I'd vote for going back to playing outside and riding bikes. I know how it goes, my teenager sits in front of her computer with her head phones on day and night.

Oh Happy, happy birthday Matt! He looks precious!
And you know, I'm still 26. ;0)
and holding......
I'm laughing at the term "playing" together. That happens here, too. It's a techie world we now live in.
We did a cookie cake this year, and it was a big hit around our house, too.
Have a wonderful rest of your week-end.

what a great looking cake... ur, i mean, cookie. and your exactly right, that's how the kids of today "play" together. and they "talk" to each other through the computer.

Oh Ruth, how wonderful. Your little boy is adorable! Happy Birthday to him. Both my sons, one teen and one Kindergartener have September birthdays too! (My youngest is our miracle baby too... come to think of it, I'll have to post about that one day. It's so hard trying to pick what to post about. I'd be posting all day long... have been with this 31-day Proverbs journey... I'm ready for a break - [smile])

What a cute idea with the cookie cake. And I know all about those video games... LOL!

Well, I'm off to get ready for church. Take care my friend and God bless :)

Happy Birthday to Matt! :o)

I hope you all had a great time at the birthday party. It's so funny to see those three boys sitting side by side on the couch. My husband and his buddies do the same thing (if we let them) when our friends come over! Cracks me up!

Hope you have a wonderful day Ruth!

Hi Ruth! I found your blog through Christy's. I grew up in Louisiana - Opelousas, and my husband is from Lafayette. His sister and parents live in Baton Rouge now. Where do you live in LA? I now live in MS-but sure do miss some good ole cajun cooking!
Happy Birthday Matt! Precious children!

Just replying to your comment on my blog.

You got that right Ruth. I was wore out. I had to recuperate on Monday and Tuesday.
We had such a busy weekend too. It was crazy.
Friday night Home Game for varsity football and after game football gathering for coaches/wives/kids
Saturday AM drive to a town 45 minutes north of here for Derek's football game.
Then run a couple of errands and eat at Burger King per Derek's request for his birthday.
Saturday midafternoon Derek's friend bday party.
Then I had to work until 11:30
Sunday was Derek's family party.
We basically crashed and sat around when everyone left. UFFDA.
