More of Him Monday

Diana is hosting More of Him Monday. The directions are to "share a specific piece of scripture that has spoken to your this last week. Share what you feel God is telling you through that passage and how you wish to apply it to your life." Head over there and check out what God is saying to people!

Yesterday, God spoke to me from Colossians 1:10, which says:

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God

It is my prayer that my life makes a difference for His kingdom. Of course my family is my first ministry, but even more so than that. I don't want to be just "a nice person". I want the life I live to draw others to Christ. I shared in a comment I left at Ginger's today that I tend to be on the wimpy side with my mouth. There are things that I know I should say to others that I let slip by because of fear. I need more of Christ and less of me!! I want my good works to be more than just good works...I want them to bear fruit...fruit for His kingdom. It does little good for me just to be "nice" but let opportunities slip away. Yes, I know...some plant, some water, and others harvest. But I mean when I let opportunities slip by and I'm just "nice" when I need to be more, and I fail to even plant or water. This scripture has become my reminder and my prayer - that my life is worthy of the Lord and my good works bear fruit for Him.

i like your proclamation, "I want the life I live to draw others to Christ."

i heard a saying once that has stuck with me... "you may be the only Bible someone reads." this reminded me that it's not just by words that we can witness to others, but our lifestyle too. i think God gives us opportunities to use both. so don't shortchange yourself. i bet your words and lifestyle speak loudly to others.

thank you so much for sharing this with us today.

Yes, how easy it is to just let those opportunities slip past, I know what you're saying, because I do it too... I have to keep praying, Lord, less of me and more of You...

Honest, brave words here Ruth. As I commented on another blog this morning, conviction is so wonderful when we heed it and you are!

I'm the same way with my mouth and letting fear stop me from saying what needs to be said. I usually can do it if that person is talking directly to me about said issue, but I can never say it out right. And that's been on my heart recently.....not just for me, but for all Christians. I think we as Christians are sitting back and allowing more and more of our rights be taken away (because we're too "nice" and compliant) and that scares me.

Let it be said, "May Christ be seen in me!" Sometimes just seeing isn't enough. It's hard to take that stand and open our mouths speaking up when we know the Spirit is nudging us to do so. I am finding that those who oppose God's love and his goodness are those who need to hear about it most. They may fight against the truth that I share, but I hope and pray I never regret a single word I utter. It needs to be His way or NO way. If I walk in His truth and not out of my own flesh I know I can't go wrong.

So true about us being the only Bible that others may "read."

A reminder of the days we are in and what we as Christians are called to do.

We sing a song in church (Jeremy Camp) called Empty Me. It says it all.

Holy fire burn away
My desire for anything
That is not of you and is of me
I want more of you
And less of me

Empty me, empty me, fill me
With you, with you

Yes, Lord more of you and less of me.
