Show and Tell Friday

Kelli is hosting Show and Tell Friday. Head over to her blog and check out all of the people who are participating. If you'd like to participate, just link to her site.

Here is my new iPod shuffle

Since I am behind with my posts, I am combining Show and Tell and Mother's Day. Now, I know this isn't old or "crafty", but it is what my family surprised me with on Mother's Day. I was so thrilled!! I don't listen to music all of the time just because, as a teacher, I feel 'silence is golden' during the school year. However, as summer approaches, and also occasionally as I do housework, I think, "Gee, it would be nice to listen to music as I do housework or walk." My daughter got one of these for Christmas, and since then I've been eyeing it. I never even thought to ask for one of these, but Beth knew what I'd like. You could have knocked me off my computer chair when they brought it to me. I have downloaded a handful of favorite songs and have many CD's waiting to be gone through. I've even purchased a song or two. This will be a big motivator for my walking program this summer! Thanks Josh, Beth, Ben and Matt!!

Ruth,
I just showed Bruce the picture of your ipod, he didn't read anything. The first thing that popped out of his mouth was, "that must have been Beth's idea". I had to chuckle.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Trella, I had a good laugh about what Bruce said. Truer words have never been spoken. Let's just say "gift giving" is NOT one of Josh's love languages...however, I think it's Beth's primary one (and mine, too). =o)

What a great gift!
It will definitely make walking more fun! We had an MP3 player (that was stolen a few months after we purchased it) and now that I'm running regularly, I wish I had another one. I talked to my husband tonight about going to get one before my 5K this next weekend, but I'm wondering what's better, an IPod or an Mp3 player. How does the Ipod work? Do you just download music (that's how the Mp3 player worked) or does it use cd's too?

Hi Jen! An ipod of any type just downloads music from cds or the internet. The ipod shuffle is the most inexpensive version...around $80ish. It has memory capcity to hold over 200 songs...more than enough for me. It is the smallest and has a clip that can attach to clothing, so that makes it nice for athletics. However, it doesn't have a screen to scroll thorugh the songs, so you just have to manually look for a song or take them as they come. The other ipods have screens that, amoung other things, list the songs so you can scroll through and select the song you want to hear. They have greater memory and are more expensive. I know nothing about mp3's.

Thanks Ruth,
It sounds very similar to our MP3 player. It too had a screen that we could scroll through the songs. Hmmmm....I may have to go to the store and ask what the major differences are, if there are any.

Have a blessed Sunday.
