Lions! Tigers! Bears! Oh My!!

We have reached the next stage of decluttering. Thus far the kitchen, our bedroom and closet, and the attic have all been gone through and TONS of stuff have been pitched, given to the neighbors or to Goodwill. We have now reached the boys (aka toy) room. The first step undertaken today is STUFFED ANIMALS. Let me proceed to amaze you at the amount....

This picture I think gives the best perspective of the amount, although I couldn't quite get all of them in this shot. My dog Toby fits right in....

Here is a shot of Matt with a pile of "keepers". They have just started sorting. (Did you notice I said THEY?!)

This is a closeup of the biggest pile. I wish I would have grabbed the camera before they started sorting. I tried to get them to repile, but they refused. LOL!!

So here is today's project! I wonder how many I'll be able to part with. (Did you notice I said I'LL?)

My granddaughter has a huge amount like that, too. How many did they end up keeping. I'd be as bad as the kids, too!!!!

oh my...

I really think the little boogers make babies in closets. You put a stuffed teddy bear and a stuffed puppy dog away and the next morning you have fifteen more!!

We used to have a bunch but I systematically threw them away one at a time...

Now we only have about 30 ;)

I like the boy's room-it looks really bright!

This cracks me up!

It reminds me so much of helping my now-husband sort and move before we got married. For a 24 year old guy, he had more stuffed animals than I did!

Isn't it amazing how great it feels to de-clutter?? I've been trying to do this little by little with our clothes this week. I love SpaceBags, they have been a life saver!

i was going to make a comment like christy's... maybe they reproduce when no one's looking.

my kids are 17 and 19 and they STILL have stuffed animals (that they claim they can't get rid of).

My granddaughter takes stuffed animals home from my house all the time. I think her parents must be sneaking some back here. I just know there are more here now than I started with! lol

Wowza! You have a ton of stuffed animals. I know it is hard to get rid of things.
But on the other hand it is nice to de-clutter. i just went through that last weekend. I went in on a friends garage sale and took some things over.

whew! you're gonna feel great once you're done with that project. When we got rid of stuffed animals, I had to let David go through them with me, he was MUCH less attached to them than "we" were :)
the key is forgetting who gave them to you :) you know, emotionally detach...
happy sorting!!

Okay, I will never fuss at my kids again for having too many stuffed animals. That is unbelievable! Good idea getting the kids to work with you while decluttering.

Wow, that's a LOT of soft toys Ruth! I used to have loads when I was younger. I still have 2 that I go to bed with, out of habit. There's something nice and comforting about them.

Hee Hee Hee. It looks like Alaina's room! That girl is addicted!
Thank you for your sweet comments on our anniversary. I have missed all of you in blogland, so I'm planning on posting here and there instead of just completely shutting down.
Enjoy your sorting!

Ruth, stuffed animals are so sweet and accumulate so quickly...nursing home patients appreciate them, so that's a good place to share them...thanks for the visit with me...Betty
