Get Your Tissues

I just figured out how to add music to my site. I've enjoyed everybody's lists so much, I decided to do it, too. The song that plays first is an older one by Mark Shultz, and you probably have heard it. It is a heart-rending song of a daddy praying for his son. This song meant so much to me during the times of Matt's heart surgeries (and still does), but also it continues to remind me of my prayers for Ben as he battles autism. The first time I heard this I was driving, and I almost had to pull off the road. It SO mirrored my prayers that it took my breath away, and I just sobbed. I also think that every parent can sympathize as well, because which one of us wouldn't want to take a physical or emotional pain for our children so they don't have to hurt? This song is really every parent's cry at some time. Here are the lyrics:

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired I'm sure You can understand
Each night as he sleeps She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry As the tears fill her eyes

CHORUS: Can You hear me? Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him? Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You
Let him grow old Live life without this fear
What would I be Living without him here
He's so tired and he's scared Let him know that You're there

CHORUS
Can You hear me? Can You see him? Please don't leave him He's my son

Ruth, I don't think a post has ever made me cry so much. I cried through the whole song.

I came to your site to see if you figured out the music, I guess you have:)

Very touching post and I will continue to keep Ben and Matt in my prayers.

Love you so much,
Trella

A wonderful post Ruth. Isn't is amazing how we can be touched so much by a song. I love how the Lord uses all of His creation, music included. So, how DO you put music on your site?

You were right. I need tissues. I don't think there will ever be such heartfelt, desperate prayers as those prayed by parents for their children......

I'll add Ben and Matt to my prayer journal. Thank you for sharing....

Thanks for the comments Trella, Lori b, tracy, and jen! I just love that song with Mark Shultz's voice.

Tracy, I just clicked on the player where it says "launch" and then proceeded to hunt for some songs. I had to register and make a playlist, but that was pretty simple. Then, right there by the playlist was the code needed to put it on your site. I copied and pasted into my blogspot. Then I went to layout and added a page element from the choices - the one that says HTML/Javascript - [asted it there, and then it appeared on my blog. I had to play around a bit with finding the right code, but it was realitively simple.

I to have TOTAL faith in God and that HE has everything under control. Have you ever read the blog Big White Hat? He has an autistic son and has been writing some really good posts on this. I looked for an e-mail address to write you rather than posting this in the comments but couldn't find one. Mine is penlessthoughts@gmail.com if you'd like to contact me. Blessings!!!

I love this song. It is very sweet. Mark Schultz actually wrote it about a boy in his youth group who had cancer. I'll tell you the story at school.
Luv Ya!!

Just stopping by to say that you have a beautiful blog. I love the Mark Schulz song, and I loved reading about your sons. We did that song at Easter with video clips from the Passion of the Christ. I'm sure the song means so much to you personally.
